How to Play Snake
Use the Arrow keys or WASD (desktop) or the on-screen D-pad / swipe gestures (mobile) to steer the snake around the board. Eat the red food to grow longer and increase your score — but avoid running into the walls, obstacles, or your own tail, or the game ends.
Advanced Features
- Levels — the snake speeds up automatically every 50 points, so the challenge ramps up as you go.
- Golden bonus food — an orange bonus food appears periodically and is worth 3x points, but only stays for a few seconds.
- Pause anytime — press the Pause button or the Space bar. The game also auto-pauses if you switch browser tabs.
- Wrap Walls mode — turn this on to pass through the edges and reappear on the opposite side instead of dying.
- Obstacles mode — turn this on to add fixed obstacle blocks to the board for extra challenge.
Tips to Improve Your Snake Score
- Keep to the edges early on when the snake is short — it's safer and leaves the center open for later.
- Plan two or three moves ahead instead of only reacting to the food's position.
- Only chase golden bonus food if it's safely on your natural path — it's not worth a risky detour.
- Choose a slower speed while learning the board, then increase difficulty once you're comfortable.
